Nighttime is the Right Time~
Above~ a pano shot of Livingston Lake about 1am. The star party looks like campfires in the background.
In July 2017 some members of RASC NB and the Saint John Astronomy Club gathered for a weekend star party at Livingston Lake, NB. This was different from public star parties as it was for participants only. It was a beautiful time at a beautiful location. Livingston Lake is a private setting east and north of Alma, NB, on the border of Fundy National Park. The camp is managed by Livingston Outdoor Adventures Inc. which is a charitable organization. The camp is an ideal setting for this type of event, private and quiet, with a dark sky away from city light pollution.

Daytime slideshow~
Above and below are typical daytime scenes at most star parties. People are getting their breakfast, adjusting equipment, just milling around or exploring the surrounding area. From the deck you can see the setup near the lake. Excellent facilities for an event like this.
Below~ a 360° view in the morning.
Infrared slideshow~
Above~ Some very dramatic clouds came up so I grabbed a full spectrum infrared camera. I unknowably had the wrong settings but I decided to share them anyway. Black and white infrared sometimes accentuates cloud formations.
Livingston Lake at 1am~
About 1am I was so struck by the place I took a walk out to the little point that sticks out into the lake. Click the pic to view in 360°. A stunning weekend.
