Acres of stuff~

Items for sale at the Sussex Flea Market in Sussex, NB. Held annually the 3rd weekend in August.

I’d never seen anything quite like it. Acres of just about anything you could imagine, row after row of tents and tables, the unusual and mundane, outdoor and indoor, midway rides and a good variety of food, really too much to see in one day. Equestrian events were going on at the same time and it is all finished off with an excellent Car Show and Shine. This is a first class event, well organized and run by good people. The Sussex Flea Market & Antique Auto Show is held the third weekend of August at the Princess Louise Park in Sussex, New Brunswick and hosted by the N.B Antique Auto Club.

Notes~

This really is a two day event if you want to take it all in and easier if you live in town rather than out in the country. The volunteers are at this event make every attempt to facilitate a good experience, many times helping to get some of the bigger items out to a person’s vehicle.

One year I got everyone’s Christmas and birthday presents in one go. It was great. I went back the next year hoping to do the same, got a few items but somehow didn’t have quite the same across-the-board luck, just the luck of the draw I guess. It is helpful to have some kind of fold-up cart in your vehicle in case you hit the jackpot.

This is an event I really enjoy, especially taking in the food after wandering around all the different rabbit warrens. There are a lot of pictures I didn’t get because after a while I put the camera away and just took it all in. I hope to get some good pics of the Auto Show in the future.

There are 860 sites. If the weather is good, some sunscreen and good footwear don’t go astray. As with the Balloon Fiesta, there are no dogs allowed now, check the website for more details. Weather permitting, this is a fantastic and unusual event. There are indoor vendors as well.
